Regulations Amending the Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products Regulations [Proposed]
About the regulations
The Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, on July 7, 2021, and came into force on January 7, 2023. They aim to reduce potential risks to the health of Canadians from indoor formaldehyde exposure by establishing limits on allowable formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products. Formaldehyde in indoor air can cause irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, and evidence indicates it may worsen asthma symptoms, especially in children.
