Interprovincial Movement of Hazardous Waste Regulations (SOR/2002-301)

About the regulations

Attention! This Regulation will soon be consolidated into the new Cross-border Movement of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Recyclable Material Regulations.

There will be a transition period from the Export and Import of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Recyclable Materials Regulations (EIHWHRMR) to the Cross-Border Movement of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Recyclable Material Regulations (XBR) that will allow regulatees and other interested parties to familiarize themselves with the regulatory requirements, as well as allow sufficient time for new regulatees to notify and obtain a permit for entry into force of the XBR. More information will be available shortly. Stakeholders will need to take into account certain key data as well as the expiration dates of existing permits and plan their activities accordingly.

These regulations apply to the movement of hazardous waste and hazardous recyclable materials that are transported in Canada across a provincial or territorial border.
