Release and Environmental Emergency Notification Regulations (SOR/2011-90)
About the regulations
These regulations provide 24-hour telephone services for reporting environmental emergencies. If a person finds out about harmful substances being released (for example a spill) or if there is imminent danger of this happening, they should call the respective phone number in their province or territory to make a report. The province or territory will then receive this notification on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Canada.
