| Additional information: | Release Guideline This substance is included in the combustion turbines release guidelines. The guidelines for the reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions from natural gas-fuelled stationary combustion turbines have been in effect since November 18, 2017. The release guidelines recommend nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission limits for new natural gas-fuelled stationary combustion turbines. The release guidelines apply to facilities that operate new natural gas-fuelled stationary combustion turbines with a power rating equal to or greater than 1 megawatt. A new combustion turbine is a combustion turbine whose commissioning date is on or after January 1, 2020. The manufacture or import of a substance not on the DSL may be subject to notification under the New Substances Notification Regulations (Chemicals and Polymers) or the New Substances Notification Regulations (Organisms). Following notification, Environment and Climate Change Canada and Health Canada carry out a joint assessment process to determine whether there is a potential for adverse effects on the environment and human health. This substance was added to the DSL as an “Existing Substance” given that it meets the criteria set out in CEPA for substances that were in commerce in Canada between 1984 and 1986. |
