| Additional information: | Environmental Performance Agreement This substance is included in the formulation of chlorhexidine products environmental performance agreement. The participating companies agree to: minimize facility releases of chlorhexidine to the aquatic environment (lower than the Predicted No Effect Concentration (PNEC) of 210 ng/L), prepare and implement a chlorhexidine and its salts management plan, conduct sampling and analysis 2 times per year for the duration of the agreement, undergo site verifications conducted by ECCC 2 times throughout the duration of the agreement, and prepare corrective action plans for any required improvements identified during verifications. | Additional information: | This substance is on the Domestic Substances List (DSL). The manufacture or import of a substance not on the DSL may be subject to notification under the New Substances Notification Regulations (Chemicals and Polymers) or the New Substances Notification Regulations (Organisms). Following notification, Environment and Climate Change Canada and Health Canada carry out a joint assessment process to determine whether there is a potential for adverse effects on the environment and human health. This substance was added to the DSL as an “Existing Substance” given that it meets the criteria set out in CEPA for substances that were in commerce in Canada between 1984 and 1986. |
